1-Keep up with the "new" AMCA

The AMCA "Organizing Committee" is working on a plan for some "changes" and "innovations" to AMCA. See Bill Bates' new Interactive Column for latest developments.

    2-Membership Survey (from Bill Bates)

As part of the process to improve on the past and to bring the AMCA into the 21st Century, a Survey will be circulated to each member chorus and each district executive. Look for your copy to arrive early in September. The mailings will be sent to your chorus address listed in the current AMCA Directory and to the District Secretaries. If you do not receive one, please contact the Executive Secretary. wbates@peterboro.net

    3-From President Joe Love

In case you haven't heard or read , the AMCA executive and your district delegates are working hard to try and turn our downward slide into a more dynamic and needed association. If you feel you have something to contribute to this organization, now is the time to step forward and help out. Joe Love - President

    4-Stay in touch:

There are two places on the AMCA web pages where you can "signup" to be automatically notified when there are any "updates" to those pages. All you have to do is go to the page and follow the directions for leaving your email address to be automatically notified. You can just as easily remove your email address if you find that you no longer desire to receive email notification.

AMCA Talk (a place to converse with AMCA members about any topic)
    http://www.talk.amcachorus.org

AMCA Notable Items (from the Executive Secretary)
    http://users.datarealm.com/macsite/amcanotable.html

    Interactive with Bill Bates (Feedback/Comments)
    - (If people use the above I will add email notification here also)....

    5-Thanks to selected people.

Some of you regular email/web users responded very quickly and gave us much assistance in working with Bill Bates' ISP. Bill could not access some of the web pages on the <users.datarealm.com> server and your responses helped us to prove where the errors were located. Thanks so much!! You saved us much time with your prompt responses!! Thanks!

    6-Volunteers (Officers) are still needed:

AMCA International has lost two officers recently. Are there any "volunteers" to serve in these positions (AMCA Scholarship Chair and AMCA Historian).

    7-AMCA Contacts:

Do you ever want to know how to contact someone in AMCA?
The AMCA Directory and all known AMCA Email Addresses are updated regularly on the Password (Secure) web site. You need your Username and Password to access this information on the web site?

    8-NEWS

With the notable absence of the Chorister to keep AMCAers in contact, it is hoped that some of you will add your news and events to the AMCA web pages (thanks Trevor from Niagara). (I know the web doesn't reach everyone but to reach some has to be better than NONE.) It is nice to know "what is happening" around AMCA. I know summer is a slow time but all of you must have something scheduled for your fall season by now (or some rembrances of the last season). What about some Big Sing Highlights? Just click on the "Enter Your Event" link on the "AMCA Highlights" Bulletin Board on almost all the web pages. You don't have to be an "official" chorus rep to submit something....any chorus member can do this....maybe your chorus reps don't even have web access so the job is "up to you" if you read this. You can even send me some pictures if you like. I can use most anything........ We NEED to talk with/to one another!!!
    Submit Events:
    http://amcofa.org/calendar.html#submit
Submit some thoughts, ideas, jokes, tidbits, news clips, events, etc.

    9- Search Info/Explain

More people have been using the "Search" tool on the top of most of the AMCA web pages - Thanks! Don't be disappointed if you don't find something the first time.... what is the saying? ..."try again" with some different words... experiment a bit.

I do use several servers for AMCA web pages though (a server is a computer that is available to accept your request for info at any time) and the "Search" tool is programmed to look for items only on the University of Minnesota computers/server (you will notice the <www.tc.umn.edu> in the URL for those web pages). The other servers have not been programmed to be searched (i.e. the secure stuff is on a server at Data Realm (identified with the <users.datarealm.com> in the URL.. want to keep a certain security there) but you may notice other servers as well. I may get to the other servers eventually too.

    10- For Web Masters

Please consider installing the "AMCA Highlights" Feed on your chorus web pages. This will give us some nice "unity of effort" for AMCA. The source code is easy to install (and even easier to uninstall should you decide not to use it). I hope you will look at it and try it out. I am available for any help needed. (You will need your username and password to access the following page with the code.)
