Again I communicate with you all regarding the progress of the select committees for the support of our "Blueprint for Progress." To date only two individuals have stepped forward to assume the duty of chairing the important issues before our organization. Tom Rayner and George Pecor have committed to leadership roles and will, without a doubt have reports for our June meeting. Although we are still in the infant stages of work on these objectives, we need to show a unified support of the process of contacting those persons who volunteered to assist from our general membership. To ignore their interest in assisting in the areas of general concern laid out in our meetings only devalues our leadership responsibilities we accepted as delegates from our districts. To justify our positions as elected district delegates and officers we must assume these additionnal duties and follow through with tangible results if we are to show our districts our genuine interest is beyond the mere attendance of two meetings a year. I WOULD APPRECIATE HEARING FROM EVERYONE REGARDING THIS MATTER.

Perhaps, more importantly, is the issue of someone coming forward to chair the AMCA Scholarship program. Tom will step down from this position in June of 2002 to assume active duties as 1st Vice President of our organization and to chair the "Keys of Success" section of the Bluepriint for Progress. Without a chair, in place, this valuable program will be disolved by action of the Executive Board with the recommendation that funds be reallocated. This unfortunnate action will be the result of the unwillingness of any member of our leadership to assume the chair. Tom has developed the program and no one could ever be passed a better organized and worthwhile project. Not that I would ever imply that it is an easy job but Tom has fine-tuned this project and it only needs a leader. Please eveluate your priorities and assist us in support of this program. How valid will our organization be if this important program is to disappear due only to the lack of leadership?
On a brighter note - we are blessed to have a confirmation that Dave Thomas has reversed his earlier decision to leave the Web Master position. Daves' devotion to this 8 year project has been invaluable to AMCA. As a work-in-progress the web site continues to grow in popularity and usefulness. Our sincere thanks to Dave for his dedication...and to Gayle Pohl, director of the Lansing Orpheas Chorus for her willingness to try to continue the site duties with only an introductory course in web site work! It's that kind of dedication to our organization that more of us need to offer!
