In Memoriam - Ab Foreman
Ab Foreman, long time member of the Winnipeg Male Chorus in the Upper Midwest District passed away on his birthday, November 1, 2002. Ab was 86 years old. Many UMW singers will remember Ab sitting in the front row in his wheel chair and singing with great enthusiasm. (See the picture of the Upper Midwest Big Sing in Marshall - I don't believe this is Ab - (someone tell me if this is Ab) ... Ab always appeared like this though ... in the front and very much a part of the singing ...)

 Ab Foreman was a veteran of WW II where he received a war injury. Because of this injury Ab had leg amputations and was bound to a wheelchair. Despite this handicap he was instrumental in forming the Winnipeg Male Chorus. Because he was a founding member he was presented a Honourary Life Membership to the chorus in 2000 by then AMCA President, Joe Love. Although Ab had not sung with the chorus for the last few years, he will always be remembered for his hard work and tenacity and presence on stage in his wheelchair. A Memorial service will be annouced after his wife Audrey recovers from her hospitalization.

Ab was an Honorary life member of our Chorus. He was unable to participate recently but attended all our local concerts. Both he and his wife were recently hospitalized with the flu. There has been no obituary (only a death announcement) and arrangements for a memorial service are pending, waiting for Audrey's health to improve.
I had a chap approach me at the Buffalo Big Sing, inquiring about Ab and saying what an inspiration he had been for him! Ab was, to the end, one of our best promoters and always wanted to know about his Chorus, its members and activities.

This is the first full obit printed. Joe Love presented Ab with the award for meritorious service at our 2000 Big Sing,. The WMC will be singing Venez Jesu and the Blessing of Aaron at the funeral.
