     The Associated Male Choruses of America are pleased to announce their Scholarship Program for the 2008 - 2009 school year.

     As in the past, AMCofA is encouraging students of music to consider applying for one of the awards. Award values are $1,000 plus one top award for a value of $1,200.

     All sponsored candidates are evaluated by each AMCofA evaluator. Each evaluator separately examines candidate' information and provides grades in several categories. Special forms are provided to all evaluators to direct this activity and to provide results that are comparable for all candidates. These evaluation grades are sent to the Scholarship Chairman for consolidation in March of 2008. All results are processed and the top candidates are identified. Accordingly successful awardees are selected.

     It is important for applicants to remember that evaluators perform their function based on information received. As a result all applicants are encouraged to prepare their material with care. Their personal letter of interests and goals need to be structured to provide evaluators a clear idea of an applicant's intentions and reasons for pursuing them. Letters of recommendation are important for all of those same reasons. A recording of their personal performance needs to be done with as much care as possible. All evaluators want to be able to hear performances clearly and without distraction.

     AMCofA Choruses; You will find all of the instructions and announcement documents in the scholarship web location. Print the two page Application documents back to back and distribute them to your potential schools and applicants.

     It is hoped that the AMCofA will again have a good group of applicants from which to find those with the highest evaluations. It will be with great pleasure that recipients of this next season's scholarship awards can be announced at the end of April 2008.
