TECHNOLOGY and District Meetings
WHY:
  1. Make use of today's Internet technologies
  2. Costs:
    1. Chorus members are questioning the benefits of being an AMCA member.
    2. Reduce or eliminate- travel- lodging- meals- meetings hall rental etc
  3. More informed membership:
    1. Time afforded a lengthy district report does not always happen, or only touched on.
    2. Discussion of issues is more likely, when scattered and worked through the year by the chorus.
  4. Not all choruses are sending representation to district meetings.
  5. Could this be an incentive to other choruses to join the AMCA?
PROCEDURES:
  1. Step 1: Each chorus membership
    • Discuss issues (if any) and vote (if necessary)
    • Email: suggestions, requests, comments, vote count/district issues
    • Chorus board may act independently of its membership in decision making
    • DEADLINE - 2400 hr.. 1st Monday of the month Sept - Dec - Mar.
  2. Step 2: District officers:
    • Accept all Chorus sent Email
    • President checks incoming mail-time deadline, void all late mail and notify sender. (If President does not have e-mail - he appoints the Governor or someone to act for him..)
    • Categorize all incoming mail - to avoid duplication -identify senders
    • Count votes when applicable - report.
    • Requests may be addressed to the secretary or treasurer - available for all choruses.
    • Issues to be recognized - addressed to all choruses and host director.
    • Compile and return e-mail- DEADLINE-2400 hr - 2nd Monday of Same month.
DIRECTORS AND ACCOMPANISTS
  • Host director for up coming District Big Sing to chair assisted by President , Gov. Sec.
  • Accept all director and accompanist e-mail- simplified by all on a group e-mailing list.
  • Host director - documents and forwards information.
  • DEADLINE - 1st Monday of the month
  • Host director forwards information received from district officers
TO BE DISCUSSED BY DISTRICT
  • Could have a hands-on meeting on Saturday AM 7-9 of District Big Sing weekend of directors, governors and others.
  • Reports to be made Sept.--Dec-- Mar...
The above to be reviewed, by-laws checked, changes and amended wording to be voted on.
