A New Season Startup
1. Start a new season with positive words of encouragement
It is always good feelings to start anew, and this fiscal year is no exception. We have projects/programs to follow, contacts to make, old and new business to check on ... and just the comfortable schedule of the season. Yeah, right! - It's the end of summer fun, duh!! OK, so it does have some negative views momentarily and we have to give up the warm-weather outdoor activities soon.
Getting back in harness needs to bring us into a readiness I have been seeking for this Association for many moons now. The first step in this effort is to have reliable email contacts in every chorus. We are asking for each chorus to designate two email contacts for the purpose of receiving any news and delivering that news to the chorus at the soonest opportunity. We have been preparing to answer to the membership for some time and now we need to hear from them.
2. set pace for moving faster, better right up front
It is vital to move issues along faster and more efficiently in the current organization. We have done much to "streamline" our Association, to cut costs and minimize overlapping efforts. We ask the membership to aid the labors by getting involved to the extent that we communicate with all choruses, have feedback on plans to know our progression and find methods to accommodate them getting what they need from the Association. We cannot go it alone, and have any hope to stabilize this organization, without member involvement - and certainly no thoughts of growth in the future.
Understanding the feelings of individuals when changes are necessary aids the leadership to adjust changes to the better. Hearing the feedback is our only method of gaining that knowledge - we're not operating with any crystal balls, fortune tellers or magic mirrors.
Likewise, the sooner we know when we erred the quicker we can correct any mistake. You will not always be pleased with the actions of the Executive Council, and we understand that we can't please everyone. Yet, the assistance of the leadership to solve problems requires information on the problems, details of short-comings in various solutions and approvals when solutions are being finalized -- COMUNICATION!

3. accommodate web writings, focus on other officers contributing
As we start the season, the officers are preparing to undertake some writing communications they are unaccustomed to performing. I have yet to feel at all comfortable writing a monthly article for this website, but I get assurances from time to time they are needed. I have come to take it as part of the territory. Some of the other officers have not found a need to attempt such a labor. I have ask them to make some contributions anyway. No timetable is set, and no subject is specified. All I sought was enhanced communications by making an effort. Please don't throw stones at their first efforts when they try.
